Carol was born to Carl and Edna (Dunham) Gummow on the ranch in Guthrie, Oklahoma on July 16, 1935. She passed away at her home in Oakwood on January 17, 2022.

Carol graduated from Guthrie High School with the class of 1953. She was active in Rodeo. She roped calves, ran barrels, and even rode steers! She showed and trained horses. Carol had the Grand Champion gelding at the Tri-State Fair Quarter Horse Halter Show in Amarillo. Carol was also the 1953 89’er Day Queen in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Carol was a hairdresser and later worked at the Major County Courthouse. She attended the Oakwood Christian Church. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, a

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Don Gummow, sister-in-law Lee Gummow, sister Patty Amerine, and her husbands CB Preston and Bill Wilson.

Carol is survived by her husband Orin Chain, son Randy Justin Preston (Carla), two granddaughters, Brandy Litsch (Jimmie), and Whitney Marshall (Andrew), brother Bill (Thelma) Gummow, sister Beverly McKinney, seven great greatchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and family.

The family wishes to acknowledge all the wonderful nurses from Russell-Murray Hospice who have cared for Carol over the last few months.

Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Evergreen Cemetery with Pastor Shane Sander officiating. Memorials donations can be made to Cookson Hills Ministry or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital with the funeral home serving as custodian.
