Carolyn Sue Smith, known to most as Sue, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 15, 2020 in Union City, Oklahoma with her family by her side.

Sue was born to Homer and Lillian Smith on October 15, 1944 in Dallas, Texas. She lived in the Texas Panhandle briefly before establishing her forever home in Watonga, Oklahoma.

Sue found the calling that suited her servant heart when she discovered nursing. She was a Certified Medications Aide and very knowledgeable in many areas of medicine and trained others who were coming up in the field of nursing. She worked for Kingfisher Hospital for a few years before finding her place at Watonga Nursing Home where she stayed until retirement.

Sue became an active member of the community and belonged to many organizations. Sue had a heart for service and a loving attitude towards all, as a volunteer she served many in her community. Her service to the community was recognized by the Chamber of Commerce when she received the Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year Award. Sue was also an active member of the Trinity Baptist Church. As a member of the church she helped to organize meals for families during funeral services and helped the Knitpickers to crochet hats for preemie babies at Baptist Hospital.

Sue was gifted with many talents and is best known for her crafting skills. Sue had a love of knitting, crochet, and crafts. She often donated many of the things she created to those who were going through cancer treatments at Integris Cancer Institute. Throughout her years she shared her love of these talents with many others, passing on skills that will last through generations.

Sue always had a loving heart and was known for sharing her love with all of those she met. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and spent as much time with them as possible. She loved to play games with everyone and was always a great sport. Her family will always remember her sweet laugh and kind smile.

Sue is preceded in death by her mother and father, Homer and Lillian Smith, her brother Jerry Smith, and her best friend and companion, Ted Schenk.

Sue is survived by her children, Wayne Forston and wife Lori, Jerriee Michalicka and husband Mike, Mike Pierot and wife Tonya, Glen Pierot and wife Shanna, Audrey Alloway and wife Ashley, Arthur Wear and wife Jan, Glenda Worthington and Debi Dellinger and husband David. Sue was also known as ‘Nana’ to many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Service to celebrate Sue’s life will be at Trinity Baptist Church, Watonga, Ok Sunday May 24 at 2:00pm.
