In Loving Memory...

Delores passed away at her home in Anchorage at the age of 85.

Delores was born in Fay, Oklahoma on January 24, 1937. She was born Delores Jean Emma Rosaline Myrtle Taylor, the only girl child in her extended family for many years. She was named after every aunt. Her parents were Goldie Frances (Logan) and Willard B. Taylor, were both schoolteacher during the Jim Coleman segregation era.

She graduated from high school on May 19, 1954. In 1968, she graduated from San Jose State University with a bachelor's degree in Social Services. She was a deputy sheriff in Santa Clara County, California for several years, and also worked as a juvenile probation officer in San Jose, Santa Clara County, and as an adult probation officer in Anchorage, Alaska, for a year or two.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Don Coleman; three daughters, Margaret Lynette Pacheco, Frances Elizabeth Smith, and Brenda Michelle Harris; and by four grandchildren, Ian, Mariah, Evan Pacheco and his wife Vanessa, and Cedric Harris; and one greatgranddaughter born to Evan and Vanessa Juno.

Delores came to Alaska with her husband in October 1980, and her home was in Anchorage ever since, with the exception of 16 years (19842000) when they both went to Oklahoma to care for their parents. They would spend about a month each summer back in Anchorage during that time. They returned to Anchorage in 2000 with Goldie, her mother, who died in 2004 from complications due to Alzheimer's disease. Delores lovingly and devotedly cared for her dear mother during the difficult final years of her illness.

The most important event in her life, which led to other important events, was learning about God's name. In her words: 'The Jehovah's Witnesses came to my door, and I demanded to know: why did they call God, Jehovah? They showed me from my own King James Bible in Psalm 83:13 that his name was Jehovah, and I felt ignorant, and wanted to know more” She came to know and love Jehovah and Jesus as His son, from Jesus' own words at John 20:17. She dedicated herself to Jehovah and got baptized in 1969. She put service to Him first for the rest of her life.

She died of complications of CKD (chronic kidney disease), and although suffering from Alzheimer's disease for many years, was fairly cognizant up until the end.

The family would like to thank Providence Hospice Care, the doctors, nurses, CNA’s and PCA’s for their professionalism and kindness; Alzheimers Resources of Alaska; Dr. Sandra Denton and nurse Liz, and all of the staff, and special thanks to Lucy Vagao, PCA, as well as the Parkway Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses for all their overwhelming loving support in Delores' final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations, if so inclined to be made to JW.ORG, which helps people worldwide.

Memorial arrangements will be in person at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 230l Strawberry Rd. on 9/10/2022, at 1pm.
