Dora Jean Ewers

1929~2023

Dora Jean (Wilkinson) Ewers age 93 passed away peacefully on February 24, 2023. Dora Jean was born SW of Watonga on February 28, 1929 to Guy and Opal (Gooch) Wilkinson who are now both deceased. She grew up in the Watonga Greenfield area and attended high school at Greenfield. Dora is also preceded in death by siblings Johnny Wilkinson, Guy Jr. Wilkinson and Caren Beckloff.

She is survived by siblings Geraldine Sutton, Keith Wilkinson and Claude Wilkinson.

On April 8, 1947 she married Ben Ewers of Hitchcock after meeting at OSU. They were married for 73 years and had 7 children. Ben Ewers was deceased October 15, 2020. They are survived by all 7 children as follows: Gary Ewers and wife Nancy of Sparks NV, Patricia Hon of Fernley, NV, Mary Webb and husband Dale of Oklahoma City, James Ewers of Moore, OK, Angela Bailey of Jones, OK, Greg Ewers and his wife Glenda of Watonga, OK, Jean Ann Gonzales and her husband Rudy of Dallas, TX. Twelve Grandchildren and numerous great and great Grandchildren.

Dora told stories of riding their horse Topsy to school and working on their family farm. As a mother she sewed our clothes, made our butter and cottage cheese on the farm in Hitchcock. Then Ben and Dora moved to Watonga and she worked at Watonga Hospital until moving to OKC and then at Baptist Hospital for many years. After retirement they moved to Mission, TX to enjoy margaritas over the border of Mexico and a warmer climate. They moved back to Oklahoma in their 80's to live with Opal Wilkinson until her passing. Married 73 years they had a long, good run with many adventures throughout their lives.

The immediate family will have a Private Celebration of Life later in the spring when all can attend.
