In Loving Memory... Fred William Holsapple

Fred William Holsapple was born October 17, 1941 in Watonga, Oklahoma and departed this life on January 2, 2024 in his home in Oakwood. Fred was born to Clifford Elmo and Alma Lorraine (Hale) Holsapple. Fred was raised on the family farm west of Oakwood that his parents homesteaded. Fred attended Oakwood Schools until he graduated in 1961. After graduation, Fred went into the oilfield and traveled as far north as Wyoming with his best friend Bud Roberts to work. He wasn’t used to the cold winters up there and said that they just about froze in -45 degree temperatures. In 1964 he met Marian Ellen Pratt and they got married on July 9, 1965 in Clayton, New Mexico. They remained married until her death in December 2010. During their marriage they had raised 5 daughters, 1 son and 1 nephew, William (Chugo) Howell. In 1969, Fred bought his first 160 acres of land east of Oakwood. Then from there, he began his farming life which he loved and farmed for 53 years. He finally semi-retired in the summer of 2023, where his daughter Lorraine and granddaughter, Kassie began to take over for him. Fred not only loved farming, but he also loved having his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his great-great-granddaughter to come and see him. He also had a number of other kids call him Papa as well over the years. He loved going casino hopping, concerts, watching his western movies, football and of course his Friday night poker games with the guys. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Alma, his wife Marian, son, William Eugene Holsapple; two great-grandchildren, Diamond Warrior and Mateo Black, and a step-grandson, Ryan Manning. He is survived by five daughters, Lorraine Holsapple of the home in Oakwood, OK, Sheila Miller and husband Marc of Watonga, Ok, Judith Holsapple of El Reno, OK, Iris Manning and husband James of Oakwood, OK and Susan Kindred and husband Dale of Sand Springs, OK; his brother Frank Holsapple of Oakwood; and his nephew William “Chugo” Howell, 18 grandchildren and 5 step grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and 8 step great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter, and his best friend, Roni Allen of Watonga, OK, and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
