In Loving Memory...

1957~2022 James Robert Henke, 64, of Calumet, Oklahoma, passed away September 30, 2022 after a lengthy, hard-fought battle with Huntington's disease. He was born November 19,1957 to Herman George Henke, Jr. and Emma N. (Kauanui) Henke in Okarche, Oklahoma. He lived in California until his dad retired from the U.S. Navy in 1966 and they returned to Oklahoma, where James lived the remainder of his life in the Geary, El Reno and Calumet area. He graduated from Calumet High School in 1975, where he was known as 'the class clown'. He began working as a cook when he was 16 years old at the Cherokee Restaurant, where he worked for 40+ years and made many friends there. He was a very hard worker, supporting and providing for his family and extended families. If anyone needed anything, he would always find a way to provide it, never complaining. He loved his family with every fiber of his being.

James was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Barbara Bagley, brother, Ernie Henke and sister, Mary Jane Garrett. He is survived by: sister, Bridget Henke (Reggy) White, sister, Shannon Hedrick (Greg) Andrews, sister, Lisa Hedrick White, sister-in-law, Valerie Henke (Randy) Garrett and brother-in-law, Hugh 'Eddie' (Audene) Bagley, nieces and nephews, Melinda Hope Bagley Duarte, Cody (Annie) White, Crystal Garrett (Anthony) Zuniga, Amber Garrett, Coral Garrett (Trevor) Gibbins, Daron (Hannah) White, Karson Henke (Jeremy) Hurford, Emma Henke (Justice) Yates, Greyson Garrett, Peyton and Parker Andrews, and David Vinyard, 18 great-nieces and great-nephews, 2 great-great nieces and numerous extended family and friends, many who called him 'Uncle James'.

James requested no funeral services, but the family will be gathering for a pot luck luncheon from 1-4 p.m., Saturday, October 8th at the United Methodist Church in Calumet, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Russell Murray Hospice in El Reno, Oklahoma.
