John Ross Loewen was born on April 3, 1947 in Watonga, OK to Victor O. and Elizabeth Loewen and stepped into eternity with Jesus on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at the age of 73. He was a resident of the Watonga community his whole life where he was a farmer/rancher. He graduated from Watonga High School in 1965. After high school he attended OSU and SWOSU. He then enlisted in the United States Marines in 1966. He served in the Vietnam war from 1967-1968. He served as a radio operator and forward observer for the third marine division and fought in numerous battles including the Tet offensive. Upon return he married Jana Rae France on June 19, 1970 at the Watonga Christian Church. They celebrated 50 years of marriage this summer. Ross ran the Loewen and Sons Farm and Ranch, raising cattle and wheat. He accepted Christ as his savior in 1984. His children remember him as a hard working, loving, Christian father with many friends he considered family.

Ross is survived by his wife, Jana Loewen, of the home; children, Sharris Loewen Hayes, Neosho, MO, Vickie (Aaron) Houk, Joplin, MO and J.R. (Sarah) Loewen, Kingfisher, OK. Grandchildren, Caitlyn Hayes; Maddison, Alex and Pete Houk; Clarissa, Trey (Grace), Jacob and Jozie Loewen. Great grandchildren, Dayson, Loewen and Ross as well as numerous other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Victor O. and Elizabeth Loewen and sister Alice Lohrmann.

A memorial service for Ross will be held Saturday, December 19 at 2:00 pm.at Watonga Christian Church with Adam Lovitt officiating. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ross's life. Please practice social distancing and wear a mask. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Watonga Christian Church, and/or Marine Toys for Tots and/or the Brody Gene Sims Memorial Trust ℅ Cornerstone Bank. The family would like to thank doctors, nurses and staff at St. Anthony Hospital and Russell Murray Hospice for their care and dedication.
