Kelly Hobart Schenk was born October 31st, 1940, in Watonga, Oklahoma, to Lloyd and Beryl Schenk, and passed away May 13th, 2021, at the age of 80. He was a resident of the Watonga community for over 50 years, where he was an x-ray and lab technician at the Watonga Municipal Hospital. After graduating from Hitchcock High School in May 1958, he attended Oklahoma State University for three years and then completed his studies in radiological technology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City.

On a sultry August 4th, in 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Beatrice Winters, in the Okeene Methodist Church. Kelly and Mary Bea continued living in Oklahoma City, both working at the Oklahoma Children’s Hospital. In 1967 they relocated to Watonga, where he continued his career at Watonga Hospital until retirement in 2002.

Kelly grew up farming and ranching on his family land near Hitchcock, where he spent countless hours working ground, planting, and harvesting wheat. He also enjoyed owning cattle and looked forward to calving season every spring. After retiring, he enjoyed the simple life and getting to spend more hours on the tractor at the farm.

Known as “Papa” to his family, he loved traveling to ballgames all over the state and could tell you where any gym is located in the five-county area. He also attended countless school events with Mary Bea cheering on the grandkids. Married 56 years, he was a true testament of love and devotion to his family.
