Donald Charles Teply was born July 25, 1929 to Alvin and Pearl Milligan Teply in Watonga, Oklahoma and passed away June 7, 2020 at the age of 90.

He graduated from Watonga High School in 1950. He enlisted in Company “L” 45th Division and served a tour of duty in Japan and the Korean War. After his active duty discharge in 1952 he married Estalene Grabow of Eagle City, OK.

Donald started his span in the gas industry working at the Consolidated Gas Compressor Station in Fay, OK. He then worked for “Arkla” Gas in Weatherford, OK Gas Distribution. In 1965 he was transferred to “Arkla” in Watonga as the Gas Serviceman where he stayed for a while before starting at Reliant Energy, now called Centerpointe Energy.

During his working years, he also found time to coach five baseball teams, sponsored by R.B.’s Steak House and Eley’s Red Bud. He played for the St. Louis Cardinals at one point. Don had a passion for aviation and flew quite frequently with friends and family. He thoroughly enjoyed taking Estalene up and scaring the living daylights out of her by faking a heart attack.

Don was an avid hunter and fisherman. He specifically liked quail and deer hunting, along with fishing and attending the Annual Canton Walleye Rodeo with his family. Don’s passion for the outdoors was passed along to his children and grandchildren.

After 35 years, he retired from Reliant energy. After his retirement he served as a reserve officer with Blaine County Sheriffs office. Then, after his time as a reserve officer he became a Licensed Process Server serving the entire state of Oklahoma. He enjoyed this until he became ill and entered the Clinton Veteran Center. Don spent the next nine years there until he passed away June 7th.

He is survived by, his wife, Estalene Teply. As well as his six children; Wes Teply, Fred and Mary Ann Teply, Chris and Shyla Teply, Patricia and Paul Pritchett, all of Watonga, OK. Mark and Teresa Teply and Robert and Pam Teply of Midwest City, OK.

Don was blessed with 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

Graveside services for Donald Charles Teply will be held Thursday June 11, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Watonga, Oklahoma with Reverend Dwight McGee officiating and Wilkinson Mortuary of Watonga in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Watonga Senior Citizens Center or the Trinity Baptist church.
