1950~2023 Larae Christine (Bolton) Brown, 73, of Mustang, Oklahoma, passed away December 20, 2023 after an accident at the home.

Larae was born on November 19, 1950 to Gene and Eileen Bolton in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Her family frequently moved during the time she was growing up, but they eventually settled in Watonga, Oklahoma. She worked hard on the farm hauling hay and milking cows. She graduated from Watonga High School in 1969, attended Southwestern State University, and obtained a degree in Elementary Education. She was a 30year employee of General Motors.

Larae met Richard Perkins while they were students at Southwestern State University. They married and had two daughters, Myklee and Sara. After she and Richard divorced, she met Dezie Brown. They married and had one son, Joshua. They were married until Dezie’s death in 2020. She reunited with former high school boyfriend, Walter. They started where they left off in high school. Like any self-respecting senior citizens, their first few dates were at Golden Corral.

Larae was a renowned story teller and had an adventurous spirit. She visited all 50 states, several countries around the globe, and saw five continents in her retirement years. She enjoyed quilting, stained glass work, visiting with family members, and spending time with her three granddaughters.

Larae was preceded in death by her parents, Gene Lee Bolton and Audry Eileen (Dorsey) Bolton and her husband, Dezie Brown. She is survived by her three children - favorite child Myklee Suzanne (Leo) Williams of Edmond, Oklahoma, favorite child Sara Jo (Jeff) McKisson of Edmond, Oklahoma, and favorite child Joshua Monroe (Amy) Brown of Newalla, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her three favorite granddaughters – Lila Rae McKisson, Carmyn Lyn McKisson, and Miriam Vicky Larae Brown, stepmother Jerrie Barker, siblings – Jim (Elizabeth) Bolton, Teresa (John) White, Debra (Dennis Carter) Anderson, Robert (Stacey) Bolton, and John Meier, her boyfriend Walter Pettis, and numerous aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A service for Larae is scheduled for January 7, 2024 at Roman Nose State Park at 1:00 pm.

The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists, and other care givers at OU Medical Center that cared for Larae. They made a horrible situation bearable and helped Larae meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, peacefully.
