Body

Bobbie Lynn Daniel was 33 when she was found with her skull bashed in and her throat cut in her home south of Watonga in January 1988. Her husband, Terry, had been in town at the store the couple owned on that snowy, icy day. He returned home that night and found Bobbie dead. A window near the door had been smashed, Bobbie’s skull had been fractured, her throat slit and a knife was imbedded in her body. Forensics later showed the stabbing had occurred after Bobbie had passed away

A bag with some inexpensive jewelry was later found on a nearby roadside. Police investigated some 20-plus persons of interest and cleared all of them except Terry Daniel. But the case lingered because an Enid DA felt there was insufficient evidence to file a murder charge.

Six years later, Terry Daniel was indicted on firstdegree murder charges, but was acquitted in 2000. The motive for the killing was believed at the time to be a $500,000 life insurance policy. Terry Daniel’s attorney called the case the most botched investigation he had ever seen. No one has been convicted in Bobbie Lynn Daniel’s death.
