Wayne Roy Maddux was born September 20, 1938, at home on the farm in Watonga, Oklahoma, to Roy and Dorothy (Edsall) Maddux, and passed away Thursday, April 6, 2023, at the age of 84.

He was a resident of the Watonga community his entire life. He graduated from Watonga High School in 1956, and shortly after, in 1957, he joined the National Guard. Wayne was a farmer/rancher, and a member of the Watonga Christian Church. He loved to play his guitar and sing, and even had a fondness for writing poetry. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially loved to go camping. He married the love of his life, Lavina K. Hoffman, in 1965 at Watonga, Oklahoma.

He is preceded in death by: His parents, his wife, Lavina, and one infant daughter.

He is survived by: Two Sons, Jeff Maddux of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Brad Maddux, and wife Amanda, of Watonga, Oklahoma.

Four brothers, Owen, and wife Marjorie, of Eldorado, Kansas, Larry, and wife Judy, of Overbrook, Kansas, Don, and wife Sandy, of Watonga, Oklahoma, Vernon, and wife Sheryl, of Johnson City, Tennessee.

One sister, Joyce Rogers, and husband Greg, of Watonga, Oklahoma.

As well as his special friend and companion of 10 years, Peggy Franks, and her family, Jim and Becky Fischer; Dakota and Lexi Fischer; Erich, Whitney and Everett Fischer, and Pat Brewer.

Funeral services for Wayne will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., at the Watonga Christian Church, with Pastor Adam Lovitt officiating. His burial is to follow, at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, in Watonga, with Wilkinson Mortuary of Watonga handling the arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Watonga Senior Citizens Center.
