A Bubble Off Plumb

I am sure I have talked about this before, but it cannot be overstated. No matter who you support in the upcoming elections, it is paramount that you vote.

Maybe you love one guy or gal and hate the others. That makes it easy, go vote. Maybe you don’t agree with any of the candidates. Hold your nose and vote. Because if you do not help make that decision, someone else will make it for you. Edmund Burke said a long time ago ‘The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.’ Please don’t read into

Please don’t read into this that I believe any of the candidates are evil. I don’t. But we the people have to make our voices heard and this is the way to do so.

Likewise, please take a few minutes and fill out the Census. It is easy and fast. But more importantly, it lets the powers that be know how many voices there are to be heard here in Oklahoma. It could mean more representatives in Washington. It could mean more money for federal programs and projects. Even just the percent of responses helps when it comes to grant applications.

You can say these things don’t make any difference in your life, but they do. One of our senators devised a study on how keeping waterways and dams upstream could help control flooding here. Some of those proposals have been acted on and have helped, some. The problem isn’t fixed, not by a long shot, but it’s a start.

More elected representatives speaking for Oklahoma is a good thing, a correct thing. The state is woefully under-represented. But only the residents can fix it.

In these two instances, the answer does really lie with you.
