Staying with our odd holidays in January.

We have National Rubber Duckie Day which is always January 13th. Who doesn't love rubber duckies but did you know that Ernie on Sesame Street first sang the Rubber Duckie Song. Making it an famous childhood song. The year was 1970 and the song reached #16 on the top 100 chart.

Rubber Duckies have a very long history, first appearing around 1880, these first toys were made of solid rubber and didn't float, even then they were still popular.

As world War 1 and 2 came rubber became to expensive so they were then made of plastic or vinyl. Over time design changes were made so the became hollow and were able to float, then a small weight was added to the bottom so it always floated upright.

The Rubber Duckie was inducted into the Toy Hall of Fame in 2013.
