A Lamp to My Feet

I don’t know how many of you have ever gone to physical therapy. I have done so a number of times. For 3 weeks now, I have been going for physical therapy on my new knee. I also have exercises that I am supposed to do at home every day. The therapists push me to my limit and beyond. They continually test my progress. If I don’t do the exercises, my knee will not heal correctly. I will not pass the tests they put me through.

God deals with His people a lot like this. Our walk with God is not always easy. God tests us, so we will grow stronger and more dependent upon Him. God allows us to be tempted, but He doesn’t tempt us. God uses these temptations to test us. There are actually quite a few examples of this in the Bible. God tested Abraham’s faith when He commanded Abraham to offer Isaac as a burnt offering. God allowed Satan to test Job’s faith. He also tested King Hezekiah. Folks, our faith are being tested daily. Are we passing the tests, or are we failing to measure up? 2 Corinthians 13:5-8

2 Corinthians 13:5-8 (ESV) – “Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test! I hope you will find out that we have not failed the test. But we pray to God that you may not do wrong—not that we may appear to have met the test, but that you may do what is right, though we may seem to have failed. For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth.”
