Some people believe that in order to be right to God, all you have to do is go to church. Hosea 6:6 tells us, “For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.” This is also what Jesus tells us in John 17:3, “ And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”
Church is not a place of entertainment. Church is a place of getting to know God and His Son Jesus, the Christ. Where do we get this knowledge? The book all churches should have and be studying is the Bible. If we are not studying the Bible, we are not studying the book God wants us to be studying. Hosea 7:7 tells us, “My people are bent on turning away from me, and though they call out to the Most High, he shall not raise them up at all.” When we turn away from the Bible, we turn away from God. Hosea 14:9 tells us, “Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; whoever is discerning, let him know them; for the ways of the LORD are right, the upright walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them.”
People, listen to what David had to say in Psalm 27:1114, “Teach me Your way, O LORD, And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies. Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; For false witnesses have risen against me, And such as breathe out violence. I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!”
