A Lamp to My Feet

Before I get started on this lesson I want to update you on my daughter’s condition. The last 2 weeks have been very hectic for me and my wife. My daughter’s condition has gotten worse. Her liver has been taken over by the cancer. This last Friday, she was admitted as a Hospice patient. She is at home with my wife and her sister, Vonnie, helping Danny care for her. I really appreciate all of the prayers being offered up for her and for all of our family. I always remember: “The prayers of a righteous man (person) accomplishes much.” Please keep us in your prayers.

Amos 4:12 tells us, “Prepare to meet your God.” Are you prepared right now to stand before God for judgment? You must be because we have no idea how long we still have before our death. James 4:14 says, “What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.”

At the time of our death each of us must be able to say with the apostle Paul in 2 Timothy 4:68, “For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.”

Folks, I’m trying to encourage you to get things right with God now. Don’t put it off so you will have a good conscience when you appear before God in the judgement
