A Lamp to My Feet

It’s been awhile since I have been able to have an article in the paper. I am so happy that the newspaper allows me to have these articles in when they have room. We have been looking at the book of Zechariah. It is next to the last book in the Old Testament. Zechariah contains 8 visions. Chapter 1 has the first two visions.

Chapter 2:15 is the 3rd vision: The Man with a Measuring Line. This vision teaches that Jerusalem is under the protection of God. In 2:5 we read, “For I,’ says the LORD, ‘will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.’”

Isn’t this what Satan accused God of doing concerning Job in Job 1:9 10, “So Satan answered the LORD and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing? Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.”

We must always remember that God is always in control. No matter what happens to us, no matter how bad it seems to us, God is in control of the situation. He makes us promises that help us through the rough times. Jesus said,

“Lo, I am with you until the end of the world.” We also remember, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” He even tells us that he will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we are able to bear, but with the temptation He will also provide a way of escape, that we may be able to endure it. Even at the time of our death, we can be encouraged by the words of David, “Even though I walk through the valley of death, You are with me. Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”

We serve a great God. Never let anyone destroy your faith in Him.
