A Lamp to My Feet

Today we will be looking at Zechariah 3:610. Remember 3:15 is the 4th vision of the prophecy. It describes the attack of Satan against Joshua, the High Priest. In verses 610 we find a prophecy of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

God starts out giving instructions to Joshua. He tells Joshua that he must walk in God’s ways and keep His command. Too many preachers are not walking in God’s ways and keeping His command. They are following their own ways and ignoring God’s command. Notice what Paul told Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:1 5, “I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.”

The High Priest and the other priests are to be typical of the BRANCH (Jesus Christ) who is coming. Isaiah 4:2; 11:110 and Jeremiah 23:5; 33:15 talk about the Branch to come. Preachers are given the command to lead people to Christ. In order to do this one must be walking in the steps of the Savior. We must practice what we preach, and we must make sure that what we preach is what God wants us to preach. In this way, we will be letting people see the beauty of Jesus in us.
