We now live in a society much like the nation of Israel in Judges 17:6, “every man did that which was right in his own eyes.” At that time Israel went through many hardships because God allowed them to experience the fruit of their ways. Galatians 6:7-8, “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.”

Folks, do you remember the prophet Jeremiah. He is called the weeping prophet because his message to the people was so negative. In Jeremiah 20:7-10, Jeremiah writes, “O LORD, you have deceived me, and I was deceived; you are stronger than I, and you have prevailed. I have become a laughingstock all the day; everyone mocks me. For whenever I speak, I cry out, I shout, “Violence and destruction!” For the word of the LORD has become for me a reproach and derision all day long. If I say, “I will not mention him, or speak any more in his name,” there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot. For I hear many whispering. Terror is on every side! “Denounce him! Let us denounce him!” say all my close friends, watching for my fall.. . . “

Our nation as we know it may not last much longer, but know that the kingdom of God will last forever. Therefore, let us resolve to: “Be faithful unto death.” Revelation 2:10. Let us be “. . . steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58
