SENIOR CENTER NEWS

Hi everyone! I hope this finds all doing well. We can all be thankful we’re not in Louisiana right now. I feel so bad for all those folks and I’ll be keeping them in my prayers. John has kinfolk on the north side of the Lake Pontchartrain. They are probably under water but we’ve not been able to get in touch with them. There’ll be lots of people needing your prayers. Please remember them all. It was a fairly quiet week at the center. The county fair on Friday kept attendance down that day. I worked at a table for friends of the library all morning. There wasn’t a lot of folks there. I hope it picked up after lunch. I had a good onion burger from the Lions Club. Some of the judging was still going on as I left. The deliverers of our meals on wheels last week were the same as before. Mary Brown, Karen Dugger, Brenda and Curt Stein, Janice Hood, and Vernon Brickman. We are so thankful for all these folks. We only had two ladies in to quilt last week. It was Estalene Teply and Gene Matli. Come in and join them. If you don’t quilt just come in to visit. They meet on Thursday mornings. We are going shopping! We are going to go to Yukon on Wednesday September 15th, leaving at 10am. We’ll shop and have lunch somewhere. If you would like to go give us a call at 623-4511 and well add you to the list. Senior citizen members do have priority on the seating. Last Saturday night we met for music and games. Wayne Maddux was back and he was joined by David Greene to supply the music. We had lots of fun and even though we had several regulars missing we still had 31 present. Bill Roper came in with a big sack of cucumbers from his garden. Everyone took some home. Thank you very much bill. We all appreciate you thinking of us. We received a donation from Marianne Nitzel Jackson in memory of her mother, Leone Nitzel. Thank you Marianne. Estalene is still leading the exercise classes. There’s a good attendance. If you need to get back in shape, come on in and join them. They meet at 9am on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. They have a good time. We’ll be taking the bus on Tuesday September 28th to Kingfisher for the pioneer meeting. I’m not sure what time they’ll leave. I’ll let you know later. Here’s our menu for the next few days. Sounds good. Give us a call if you want a meal.

Monday- Closed (Labor Day)

Tuesday- Taco Salad

Well, I hope you’re staying well. I hear there’s lots of folks around here got the Covid. I’ve had my shots and so far I’m doing okay. I wear my mask when I remember to. I carry one with me all the time. Anyway take care of yourselves. Till next week…..
