Thousands of people, young and old, have now graduated from high school, vocational training, or college. Before them now lies the opportunity for success in whatever endeavor they may choose.
Many yeas ago God gave His people, the ancient Israelities, a specific goal and with it an unbeatable formula for success. Their goal was to enter and possess their Promised Land. In Joshua 1:7 God directed them saying, “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do.”
It seems to me that far too many people, drift through life mostly allowing “life as it happens” to direct and determine their future, rather than specifically choosing a direction and goal for their future.
Psychologists have been telling us for years that if we are to be successful, we need to have well defined goals. The Viennese psychiatrist, Victor Frankl says that “not having a goal is more to be feared than not reaching a goal.”
As another has wisely said, “success is the ability to formulate a worthwhile goal and then employ all your powers for the achievement of that goal.”
In the eyes of God, if you want to be successful you need to follow His Formula; know your goal, be strong, careful, and courageous, keep your course, stay on track. By doing so all of us can live in harmony with God’s instructions for wholesome and successful living.
Do you know where you’re headed?
