Bison Drop Distant Game 48-0 in Boise City

BOISE CITY — It's a little-known fact that Boise City, Oklahoma, was the only American town to be bombed during World War II. It's true. You can look it up.

But it was the Wildcats who dropped all the bombs on Friday night, as they cooked the Geary Bison 48-0 in a game that ended in the third quarter.

The victory brought Boise City to 3-5 on the year and dropped Geary to 1-5. The Bison have not scored in their past three contests.

Offensively, quarterback Major Lewis paced the Bison with 17 carries for 29 yards. He also completed three passes and caught one, a trick play thrown by Raul Espinoza, which was good for a 25-yard gain, Geary's largest of the night.

Spencer Davidson also had two catches for 13 yards; Davidson and Keaton Akridge both added one sack apiece on the defensive end.

Geary got the ball to start the contest and picked up a first down on its first possession, but stalled quickly thereafter and turned the ball over on downs. Boise City scored right away, leaning on keepers for quarterback Oscar Ramos and capping the drive with a 1-yard pass for the score.

Geary tried to punt when it went three-and-out on its second possession, but that effort was blocked by the Wildcats. Fortunately, Boise City couldn't turn that drive into points.

But after Geary punted again on the very first play of the second quarter, Boise City started pouring it on. Late in the second quarter, trailing by 14, the Bison booted another punt. Ramos took it deep in Wildcats territory and returned it all the way home for the score, putting Boise City up by 22 after a successful two-point conversion.

Geary moved the ball well, and even tried a trick play, to get on the board before the half. But the clock expired with no points added, and the demoralized Bison let the game get away in the third quarter for a premature end to the contest.

The Bison will return to action on Friday, Oct. 29 with a home contest against Sharon-Mutual. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
