The Watonga boys basketball team capped off a successful 3-1 week with a trip to the Coyle Invitational Tournament title game.

The Eagles fell short, losing a close game, 65- 60, to Southwest Convenant.

The second-place finish didn’t hurt the boys, though, as they actually improved their ranking to No. 19 in Class 2A and finished the week with an 8-3 record.

The three wins on the week certainly helped the team’s cause.

They tallied wins against rivals Geary, 71- 44, on the road before two wins in the Coyle tournament, beating host Coyle, 44-27, and Blaine County Rivals Okeene, 49-40.

The boys had a road game rematch against Okeene Tuesday night (results not available as of press time.) The team travels to Mooreland on Friday night, before coming home on Saturday to host Oklahoma Bible.
