Watonga High School athletics got some great news this week as Eagles’ varsity wrestler Ethan Henderson was named an all-star.

The Oklahoma Coaches Association announced on Monday that Henderson had made the 2020 Class 3A West All-Star Wrestling Team in the 220-pound weight class.

Back in February, Henderson placed third in the 220-pound bracket at the 3A West Regional wrestling tournament held at Geary High School and qualified for the OSSAA Wrestling State Championship tournament in Oklahoma City.

Henderson compiled an impressive 4-1 record at regionals with wins over Blake Robbins of Pauls Valley High School, Geary High School sophomore Chris Ward, Zach Griffith of Marlow, and a 7-2 victory via decision in a rematch with Ward in the third-place match.

At the state tourney held on Feb. 28-29 at Jim Norick Arena, Henderson went 2-2 and picked up victories via decision over Tristian McCartney of Pawhuska High School and Johnathan Price of Little Axe High School.
