The Eagles football team was back in action on Thursday against Minco for the home opener. Despite two turnovers by the Eagle defense, the offense wasn't able to capitalize, and found themselves down 20-6, going into halftime. A furious comeback ensued after Joe Jackson unleashed some fiery passes to Deondre Dunn and Aaron Perez. Combine that with Jackson's running ability and Kannon Kearney picking up yards at running back, and the Eagles were within a touchdown of tying the game.

With just seconds left in the third quarter, however, Jackson was stripped at the 2 yard line and the Bulldogs ran in a score to start the 4th. The Eagles ended up losing 27-20, keeping them winless.

Coach Zac Maynard stated that the team has greatly improved since their game against Rush Springs.

"The effort you guys showed means more to me than the score. As long as we keep climbing, we have a great chance to compete in the playoffs."

Joe Jackson ended the game with 176 yards on 11-20 passing and 125 yards on 15 carries. Deondre Dunn carved up Minco's defense for 121 yards receiving on just 9 catches, while recovering two fumbles on defense, and Aaron Perez added 55 yards on 2 receptions. Chris Sanders had 3 carries for 17 yards, Luis Mata had 4 carries for 2 yards and Kannon Kearney had 1 carry for 7 yards.

The Eagles host #1 Cashion kicking off at 7 p.m. on Friday night at the Eagle's Nest. Everyone come out to fill the stands with Eagle fans and help pull off the upset.
