The Watonga Eagles came up short against the Sayre Eagles October 17, falling 13-36. The match was still up for grabs at halftime, but Watonga struggled afterwards.
However, Kelan Estep had an outstanding game, throwing for more than 200 yards and a TD. He rushed for over 40 yards and a touchdown as well.
The loss dropped the Eagles’ record to 0-7 on the season, continuing a 17 game dry spell stretching back to last season.
Watonga will challenge Crescent at 7 p.m. on Friday in Watonga. Crescent is coming into the matchup with three straight defeats on the road and six on the season, meaning Watonga will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
In the last matchup between the two back in September ’23, Crescent came away the winner by three touchdowns.
But keep in mind the Watonga squad is showing more determination and skill in every outing, and may have a big enough mad on to take Crescent to the mat.
