The Watonga Eagles varsity had trouble keeping up with Union City Thursday in a 9-0 loss.

A single by #23 put Union City on the board in the bottom of the second. UC added to the early lead in the bottom of the third inning after #2 singled and #6 hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

No. 4 earned the win for Union City. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and no runs over five innings, striking out four and walking none. Talen Smith took the loss for the Eagles varsity. They went four innings, surrendering seven runs – two earned – striking out four and walking one.

Ryland Miller led the Eagles with two hits in two at-bats.

No. 2 and #23 each collected two hits for Union City. #24 and #23 each drove in three runs for UC, which had no errors in the field. No 27 had the most chances in the field with four.

The Eagles next play Tuesday against Minco at home.
