On May 31 five Watonga High School Class of 2020 graduates were awarded the Ryan Berglund Memorial Golf Tournament Scholarship.

Winners were announced from Watonga as Lavender Cisneros, Halie Elston, Emma Hussey, Wade McCrary and Eden Waggoner.

Cisneros’ accolades include the Oklahoma Honors Society, National Honors Society, and National Society of High School Scholars. She is a Girls’ Basketball and Softball District Champion, softball Offensive MVP, Softball Regional Honorable Mention, 2019 Class 2A Girls’ Track State Champion, Senior Fall Homecoming Queen, voted as Best All-Around by the senior class, and Valedictorian.

Elston was a 3,200-meter Track State Qualifier, 3,200-m relay Track State Qualifier, 1,600-meter Track State Qualifier. Cross Country State qualifier, Track Academic State Champion, 2019 Class 2A Girls’ Track State Champion, and 2019 Class 2A Girls’ Cross Country State Champion. Her accolades also include the Oklahoma Honors Society, National Honors Society, National Society of High School Scholars, Student Board of Economic Directors, and Valedictorian.

Hussey is a Track State Qualifier, Cross Country State Qualifier, Third Place State Cross Country finisher, Softball District Champion, Girls’ Basketball District Champion, 2019 Class 2A Girls’ Track State Champion, 2019 Class 2A Girls’ Cross Country State Champion, winner of the Award for Perseverance, Voted Most Athletic by her fellow seniors, Homecoming Queen Candidate, Softball Tri-County All-Conference, and Girls’ Basketball Three Rivers All-Conference Honorable Mention.

McCrary was voted Best All-Around Senior Class, Football All-District Offensive Lineman in both 2018 and 2019, Integrity Award, and received the Regents Distinguished Scholarship from Oklahoma State University and will be attending OSU to pursue a major in pre-vet animal science.

Waggoner’s accolades include Watonga Class President, FCCLA President, Oklahoma Honor Society, National Honor Society, 2019 Girls State Delegate, and Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship program at the University of Central Oklahoma.
