Geary athletes, parents, family, friends and coaches gathered Thursday evening in the Field House to celebrate another year of Geary Bison sports – a season disrupted by a global pandemic and, consequently, one of the strangest and most challenging of all-time.

Middle and high school athletes from all sanctioned Geary sports were honored and awarded for their contributions. Several coaches lamented that their students weren’t given a greater chance to learn and improve this year, as COVID-19 severely curtailed the schedules of several sports, especially in the fall and spring.

Still, the coaches celebrated their athletes’ growth and accomplishments despite the challenges.

Each coach also named an MVP or most outstanding athlete in each sport. The top high school awardwinners were:

• Football: Kale Smith

• Boys Basketball: Izzy Yellowfish

• Girls Basketball: Amaya Evans

• Wrestling: Chris Ward

• Baseball: Raul Espinoza

• Fast-Pitch: Maggie Glasgow

• Slow-Pitch: Kadance Pitts

Haylee Gormley and Michael Blackcrow were awarded the overall “Most Athletic” high school students at the ceremony. Keaton and Emily Akridge won the “Most Spirited” awards.
