First year coach David Ellis of the Geary Bison football squad is understandably proud of his team and the way they played Sept 10 against the Ryan Cowboys.

“We played Ryan a lot better than we did against Canton,” Ellis said. “We played downhill against the run a lot better and didn’t give up any big pass plays against Ryan,” he said of the 50-0 weeknight blowout. “That made a definite difference against Ryan. “

Ellis said the team is improving, with a goal of gaining ground with the passing game. “We will keep getting better,” he said.

The Bison next travel Sept. 18 to Mountain View to take on the Tigers.

Ellis characterized the Mountain View squad as tough.

“They are 2-0, and they play real physical in all three phases of the game, offense, defense and kicking game.”

Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
