Geary residents took advantage of the beautiful weather Saturday for a day of rodeo, yard sales, and special events throughout the town.

The annual Jesse Chisholm Day commemorates the famous scout and pioneer, the namesake of the Chisholm Trail, whose grave is just a few miles from Geary.

Jeff Choate, with the City of Geary and the Geary Chamber of Commerce, said this is the fourth Jesse Chisholm Day celebration. “There’s just a lot of things going on in town this weekend,” he said. “We get people in town to just enjoy the day, enjoy the weather and celebrate Jesse Chisholm.”

At the park arena, locals rode horses and barrel raced through the morning before kiddos tried their hand at mutton bustin’ in the afternoon, followed by team roping. The Canadian Rivers Historical Museum was open for tours all day, and a traditional Native American dance performance was held near the Rock Island Caboose.
