Maggie Glasgow is a sophomore at Geary High School and is very active at school and in her community.

Glasgow is active in student council, serving as class president. She’s also a member of FCCLA and Beta. All while carrying a 4.0 GPA. Glasgow is a student-athlete on top of everything, playing fastpitch softball, basketball and cheering. In the spring, she plays slowpitch softball.

Glasgow is described as one of the most positive people on campus at Geary High School. One administrator said, “She is always smiling and polite to her teachers, classmates and anyone else she comes in contact with.”

She is always willing to help out and help anyone in need or in trouble. She tries to set a good example with her actions and positive attitude every day.

“I enjoy the constant positivity and spirit our school has, and I love being an athlete and student at Geary. I wouldn’t change it for the world,” said Glasgow. “I love how my teammates are always willing to positively pick each other up and are always believing in each other, and I love their drive to get better every day. They are always up for putting in extra work not just to make themselves better but to make the team better. They have a team mindset and aren’t selfish at all.”

She was nominated as a Hometown Hero, which Glasgow said means always supporting the community.

“In my opinion, a hometown hero is someone who is always giving support. Someone who shows up to everything and is always there when anyone needs anything. Not just there for the times they get the spotlight, but they do all the little things behind the scenes that no one knows about,” said Glasgow.

One project Glasgow helped start is known as the “My Sister’s Closet,” which is an effort to collect clothing for anyone in need. She collected clothes from girls in other communities they had outgrown or did not wear anymore that were hanging in their closets. She then provided a thrift style shop in the school library where girls of all ages in the community could come in and pick out new and different clothes for free to have so they could update their personal wardrobe. She collected clothes from the Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and other suburban areas where she has friends who had closets that needed to be cleaned out and clothes that needed to be given away for young girls to wear.

There is always someone in need and she is willing to help, she said., adding when she is in need, there is someone she knows will always be there for her.

“The one person I can always count on is God, no matter what trials I go through in life, no matter how hard things get no matter how many times I want to give up I remind myself that God loves me and is my No. 1 fan always supporting me through my failures and successes,” said Glasgow.

She plans to have a career in the medical profession as a nurse.

“After I graduate high school, I plan on going to college and getting a bachelor’s of science in nursing or an associate’s degree in nursing and becoming a neonatal nurse,” said Glasgow.
