Starting to Look A Lot Like Christmas

Wrestling Season Gets Underway

Even though the calendar hasn’t hit the December mark yet, Watonga wrestling is underway. At Tuttle in a pre-Thanksgiving match, Sammy Cox placed third in the 6-7th grade division.

In the high school ranks, Tristian Dobbins placed fourth in the 175 pound class and Malaki Perez was third in the 285 pound class.

Aukai Garmon, Dakota Cox, Ayden Perez, Chris Garcia and Dayson Cash all finished just shy of the placings.

Three Watonga wrestlers are ranked preseason by OWrestle.com in their weights. Ayden Perez, Cash, Dobbins and Malaki Perez were all named on the website as top contenders in their weight class in the 3A rankings.

They will next compete at 10 a.m. Dec. 1-2 at the Kingfisher JH Tournament in Kingfisher and will host Hobart beginning at 6 p.m. Dec. 7 with both the junior high and high school teams competing.
