The Watonga Middle School boys and girls excelled during the 2A Junior High All-Star Cross Country Championships last Thursday, Oct. 14 in Chickasha. The boys netted a No. 2 overall finish, boosted by Brayden Cowan’s winning run. Brayden, pictured above with Coach Jim Bob Coleman, finished nearly a full minute faster than his closest competition with a 3200m time of 11:13.05. Noe Brewer (21st), Samuel Miller (27th) and Wade Manke (29th) also placed inside the top 30 for the Watonga boys. On the girls’ side, Emyree Lake ran the fastest among the Lady Eagles with a 10:05.20 time over 2400m. Laverne’s Arlie Mcatee won the race in 9:14.77; Kinze Cowan (27th) also ran a strong time for Watonga. The girls team finished eighth overall.
