Watonga Native to Help Coach in Texas Championship Game

Dusty Allen will assist the Southlake Carroll (Texas) Dragons in their championship game vs. the Austin Westlake Chaparrals on Saturday.

Allen is originally from Watonga and graduated from Watonga High School in 1998. He has been coaching at Southlake since 2003

“It’s going to be a close game. They know our team. We have a couple of guys who came from Westlake, and they have a couple of guys who came from Southlake. It’ll be a close game,” Allen said.

This will be the 6A Division II UIL football state championship game and will take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The game has picked up notoriety due to the Dragons and Chaparrals coaches being son and father respectively according to Allen

The game will premiere on Fox Sports Southwest at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan.16.
