Watonga Teams Hit Hard by Cancellations

The boys and girls basketball teams saw only one game combined over the past week as several contests were postponed because of COVID-19 protocols.

The girls, still ranked No. 17 in Class 2A, played an overtime thriller against No. 13 Cashion, but came up short in a 62-59 loss. The loss dropped the girls record to 9-4 on the season.

The girls have three regularly scheduled games left. Tuesday night against Class A No. 5 Seiling (results unavailable as of press time.) The girls travel to take on No. 18 Fairview on Friday, and its final regularly scheduled game is a home game on Feb. 15 against Crescent at home.

The boys didn’t get to see any official on-court time in the past week, as all game were canceled.

The Eagles did maintain their No. 19 Class 2A ranking, however and still remain 9-3 on the season.

They have two regularly scheduled games left: Friday night at Fairview and a Feb. 15 home tilt against Crescent. Tuesday’s game against Class A No. 5 Seiling was canceled.
