The Eagles are still searching for their first win after dropping another game at Oklahoma Bible Academy Friday Night. Watonga came out hitting hard on their first defensive series, driving the OBA offense backwards and recording two sacks from Ernesto Duenez and Joe Jackson. The Eagles offense capitalized on just two plays on the running of Kannon Kearney and Jackson scoring the touchdown. Laron Whiteshield's extra point made it 7-0 early. OBA would counter after penalties on the Eagles and a conversion on 4th and Goal from the 21 yard line, giving them the lead 8-7. This would be a recurring event throughout the night, seeing our Eagles move the ball, only to be stifled by major penalties. Watonga went into halftime trailing yet again, 21-7.

The Eagles got the ball to start the second half, and made a huge play off of some trickery. On the second play, Chris Sanders, who started at quarterback, pitched to Jackson who released a missile to Deondre Dunn for a monster gain. Dunn made a man miss, and sprinted to the 16 yard line. However, the next few plays would be their undoing, as miscues and penalties came back into play, leaving the team stuck at the 2 yard line and giving the ball away. OBA's running back will then break off a 96 yard run with Brendan Cole cutting across the field on what appeared to be a touchdown saving tackle, only for the referee to call in bounds. This play proved too much to overcome, as the Eagles ended the game losing 34-7.

Despite the loss, Coach Zac Maynard found some positives. "We give up four big plays, lost the turnover battle, and was stopped short on multiple drives due to penalty, and yet our kids kept fighting. I know it's tough, but the effort is there. We just have to clean up the little things, which is coming. I'm always proud of our team, they've gone through so much, on and off the field. The crazy thing about it is we win the next few games, we still host a playoff game in the first round, and that's our focus...winning the next one.

This week, the Eagles host Tonkawa Friday night for HOMECOMING. Due to COVID, there will be some changes in the festivities this week, but we will still be streaming live on watongaeagles.tv and everyone is still invited out! Good luck Eagles!
