Over the past few weeks, Congress has argued over how much the American people will receive in terms of stimulus money.

With numbers like $600, $1200, and $2000 all being thrown around with multiple delays, it can be hard to keep track of all the information as it changes day by day.

Here the top three things you need to know about the stimulus bill.

1. As it currently stands, President Donald Trump signed an economic relief package Dec. 27 ensuring that individuals with an income of up to $75,000 will receive a $600 payment.

Married couples with incomes up to $150,000 are eligible for $1,200 and can receive an additional $600 for children under the age of 17.

Reduced checks will go out to individuals and married couples making $87,000 and $174,000, respectively.

2. President Trump has called for Congress to increase the $600 to $2,000 per person, and on Monday the House of Representatives successfully voted to increase the stimulus checks to $2000.

The fate of the increased checks now lies in the hands of the Senate.

According to CBS News, Wall Street analysts are suggesting that the checks will likely amount to $600.

Although the odds continue to increase for the $2,000 checks, however slim those odds may be.

3. When the people will receive their money has become just as much of a pressing matter.

As of right now, Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin has previously stated that checks could go out this week; however, with Trump delaying the signing and the potential of the $2,000 this timeline could very well be pushed back.

For now, people can assume they likely will receive their stimulus checks of at least $600 within the next three weeks.
