The complaints that the rodeo grounds and the Foley Building at the Blaine County Fairgrounds would be used more often if not for the moratorium on alcohol sales and consumption haven’t fallen on deaf ears.
May 19 when the board of county commissioners met in regular session, Hagan Puentes, one of the new county agent, brought the proposal to wet the fairgrounds. With little discussion and no dissent, the matter was passed.
This means that the building can now be used for wedding receptions, dances, quinceanera and other celebrations which wish to serve alcohol.
However, if alcohol is present, there is a requirement that the sponsor of the event provide security personnel.
Puentes also presented an updated rental agreement with an attached clean up list. The option to only rent a portion of the building has been eliminated; it’s all or nothing now. The check out sheet will be reviewed by an extension agent or the extension service’s executive assistant during a walk through of the building after use and cleanup. Providing the building is clean and undamaged, the renter’s deposit will be returned.
