Filing for municipal candidates in Blaine County ended Wednesday, Feb. 8.
There are multiple unopposed seats, including Ward 2, City of Watonga, a twoyear term which will be filled by Adam Tock; Ward 3, City of Watonga, a four-year term, which will be filled by Ryan Bruner; Council member at large, which will be filled by Bill Seitter; Town clerk, town of Canton, a four-year term which will be filled by Stephanie Sue Stephens; Board of Trustees of Okeene, a two year unexpired term to be filled by Brian Bachmann, Town clerk, Hitchcock, to be filled by Charity Grothe; Council member Ward 1 City of Geary, to be filled by Rita Allen; Ward 3, to be filled by Sandra Cleveland; and Ward 2, an unexpired two-year term, to be filled by Rocky Coleman; Board of Trustees town of Greenfield, a fouryear term, to be filled by Caitlin Garrett; Town clerk/treasurer to be filled by Shannon Wickware; and town clerk for Longdale to be filled by Sandra Martin.
Contested seats include Watonga city council seat Ward 4, sought by political newcomer Willis Bedard and incumbent Travis Bradt; the town of Canton where 10 residents, including Ruth Stephens, Deborah Robinson, Dan Cavett, Carol Baird, DeLoris Rensch, Terry McVicker, Justin Schaumber, Wanda Baker, Rick Moore and Cleo Wooley, are seeking three available seats on the Board of Trustees, each with a four-year term.
There is also a two-year unexpired term on the Canton Board of Trustees, being sought by Roger Gibson and Misty Martin-Sullins. No one filed for the position of town treasurer.
Over in Okeene, Aaron Dobrinksi, Nathan Meier and Mary Dugan each filed for one of three available seats on the Board of Trustees, all four-year terms. The same held true in Hitchcock where Rick Edsall, Meradith L. Morris and Renita Mirecki each filed for one of the open four-year terms.
Three Geary residents filed for clerk/treasurer in that town, Paula Reding, Lois
Hicks and Kim Lewis. That is a four-year term. The Mayor’s seat is hotly contested, with six candidates seeking the gavel. They include Trey Carter, Micah Penrod, Robert B. Smith, Courtney V. Ferguson, Waylan L. Upchego and Robert Haley.
In Longdale, Joey Mosqueda and Robert Lee Cheney are each seeking a seat on the Board of Trustees. There are three seats available, each for a four-year-term.
Deana Black is running for the Board of Trustees of Hydro on the Blaine County side, while Ben Sanders is running for the Board of Trustees of Hydro for the Caddo County side.
Municipal elections will be held April 4.
