Watonga's annual Community Band event is scheduled for Aug. 4, but rehearsals are scheduled Aug. 1 and 2 for those wanting to participate.
Aaron Clewell, owner of Clewell's Family Hardware and Appliance, is helping coordinate this year's event.
He said the rehearsals will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 1 and Tuesday, Aug. 2 in the Watonga High School band room.
The performance is scheduled for 7 p.m., also in the high school band room, is free and is open to the public.
"I'm just helping out and helping coordinate it this year," Clewell said.
He said he is assisting Shane Johnston, the band director and Lincoln Spurlin, assistant band director. Clewell also will participate in the performance, playing the trumpet, he noted.
Clewell pointed out they are seeking those who are interested in participating and getting the word out for the rehearsals and the performance.
"It's open to anyone interested in playing from middle school to high school students and community members.
"We've been doing this for many years. It draws participants from surrounding communities and we have music for all ages," he added.
"We've been doing this for more than 10 years," Clewell said of the annual event.
"It's a fun event," he believes.
"We usually have between 30 and 40 who participate. It's on the same day high school summer band begins so more of them will participate possibly," he thinks.
