GEARY – A Geary man was arrested in early October after a Department of Human Services caseworker approached the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office about possible sexual abuse of a child.
Geoffrey Lloyd, 32, was booked into the Blaine County Jail and later charged with child sex abuse. He was released on Oct. 21 on a $100,000 bond.
Lloyd’s attorney Elton Jenkins said it’s too early to offer comment on the case, but did say Lloyd “professes his innocence” to the charge against him.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the sheriff’s office first met with the caseworker on Sept. 21 regarding a possible molestation. A young child had been infected with a bacteria that originates in male genitalia.
Deputies learned that the child had apparently exhibited genital irritation and strange behavior after spending time with Lloyd on several occasions.
The sheriff’s department interviewed Lloyd on Oct. 6, at which point he confirmed that he had spent time alone with the child and denied that any other male might have had access to the child, according to the affidavit.
Lloyd has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to appear in court again on Nov. 12.
