GEARY – A young man from Geary died on Saturday after his vehicle collided with the back of a swather on US-270 near Greenfield.
Patrick Leflore Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene due to head trauma. He was 22.
The wreck occurred about 3:34 p.m. less than a mile south of Greenfield. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Leflore was driving a 2018 Honda Civic north on the road when he approached a John Deere swather.
The swather was in the left lane to make a turn, officials said, when Leflore’s Civic ran into it from behind “for an unknown reason.”
Leflore had to be pried from the vehicle by the Geary Fire Department using a “jaws of life” extraction tool. The driver of the John Deere, an 86-year-old Geary man, was reportedly uninjured.
The OHP and Geary Fire were assisted at the scene by Oklahoma Department of Transportation officials and the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office. Officials said the cause of the crash is under investigation.
