The Geary Tri-County Fair will be open for crop entries beginning next Wednesday, Sept. 7, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Community Building.
Caitlin Garrett, Geary Chamber of Commerce treasurer, said all the activities except for the parade and children's races will be held at the fairgrounds/Community Building which are right next to each other.
'This is the 118th year for the fair,' Garrett said. 'It began in 1904. It's quite the tradition,' she added.
'The parade and children's races are on Main Street,' Garrett explained.
The children's races are at 10 a.m. on Saturday and the parade is at 5 p.m. on Saturday. The parade entries are due by 1 p.m. on Saturday, Garrett said.
'The Community Building will open at 1 p.m. on Thursday for crop entries and be open for the entries until 5 p.m. Crop judging starts at 6 p.m. in the Community Building' she stated.
Garrett said poultry and rabbits may be entered on Thursday from 1 until 5 p.m., the judging of those begins at 6 p.m.
The exhibits will be available Friday in the Community building from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Livestock weigh-in and cards are due by noon on Friday, then the livestock show begins at 4 p.m. with judging at 5 p.m.
The Carnival runs on Friday and Saturday from 7 until 10:30 p.m.
On Saturday, Garrett said, in addition to the children's races and parade, release of exhibits is from 3 until 5 p.m. Cake Auction entries are due by 5:30 p.m.
'The Cake Auction starts at 6:30 p.m., the amateur hour is at 7 p.m. and the Carnival finishes it from 7 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.,' Garrett said.
