Watonga's two Love's Country stores are in competition with one another as they try to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network.
Sammy Jo Sinclair, assistant manager at Love's Country Store No. 1 in Watonga, said the money raised will go to the Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City.
The fundraiser began on Aug. 30, and it will continue until Sept. 30, Sinclair said.
'Our goal is $1,000. I have asked Watonga Police Chief Beth Massey to team up with me. If we make or exceed our goal, the chief has agreed to kiss a pig.
'If we don't make our goal, I have to take a pie in the face,' Sinclair noted.
'All amounts of donations are welcome and appreciated,' she added.
Love's Country Store No. 1, where Sinclair is the assistant manager, was the first Love's Country store ever built, she said.
The other store in Watonga is a large truck stop. 'Their goal is to raise $2,000,' Sinclair said of the other store.
Sinclair pointed out that, 'It's on our kiosk and on a table set up inside the store,' as she explained how people can donate to the fundraiser.
Her store had a car wash to help raise funds toward it’s $1,000 goal.
A raffle is also underway, and the drawing will be at 1 p.m. this Friday, Sept. 9.
