The Blaine County Retired Educators Association plans to resume its monthly luncheons in September.
Trinna Caldwell, a member of the organization, announced the monthly luncheons will start on Monday, Sept. 12. She said the organization hasn't met since February of 2020 when they stopped meeting due to COVID.
She said the BCRE will meet at 11:30 a.m. at the Noble House on the second Monday of each month. Caldwell explained lunch will be served, followed by an informative program.
Caldwell emphasized, 'Reservations must be made for the luncheon. Anyone planning to attend and who has not made reservations through a current member, please contact me at 580-623-4500 by Thursday, Sept. 8.'
'Each member will pay for his or her own meal,' she noted. 'Our guest for the September luncheon will be from Association Members Benefits Advisors (AMBA) and will be discussing benefits that are available to all eligible retirees,' Caldwell added.
She pointed out that membership is open to retired teachers, school administrators and support personnel at all levels of state education including public school, college, universities, and career techs, who are currently receiving retirement benefits from the Teacher's Retirement System.
'Active teachers who are 45 years and older may also join,' she stated.
'There are many advantages to membership, and we hope you will join our local unit,' Caldwell said.
Caldwell said those interested and who would like more information should contact Janice Stinson, 580-623-1601, Yvonne Chistensen, 580-623-0152, Caldwell, 580-623-4500 or any current member.
'Janice will serve as the 2022-23 president for our local unit. Oklahoma Retired Educators Association (OREA) is our state organization,' she said.
