Academy Nominations Open

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – The office of U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) is accepting applications for service academy nominations to four of the five service academies: the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.

The deadline to apply is October 11, 2024.

“The decision to attend a service academy is a personal one, and I am honored to be involved in the process,” said Sen. Mullin. “The men and women of our Armed Forces represent the very best among us, and I am proud of the Oklahomans who desire to join their ranks. I am wishing the best of luck to those interested and look forward to reviewing the applications.”

A nomination does not guarantee admission. If an individual receives a nomination from the Senator’s office, next, they must receive an appointment from the service academy.

The honor of attending a service academy comes with an obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation. At that time, individuals receive a bachelor’s degree and are commissioned as military officers.

In addition to meeting the minimum eligibility requirements, the Senator’s office recommends that each applicant excel academically and demonstrate involvement in extracurricular activities through their schools and in their communities.
