A single vehicle accident April 5 sent the driver to an area hospital.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Joe Bybee, 74, of Apache was eastbound on U.S. 62 when his Chevy Tahoe left the roadway, struck a sign and an embankment.

He was transported by ambulance to Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton where he was admitted in good condition. The report shows Bybee was in a normal state at the time of the 9 a.m. accident and was wearing his seat belt. It lists unsafe speed as the cause of the accident.

OHP was assisted by the Apache Police Department, Apache Fire Department and Apache Emergency Medical Services.
