A Blaine County accident July 8 sent an Oklahoma City woman to the hospital.

According to the report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, about 9:30 a.m., Alawi Zayed Ahmed, 30, of Riverdale, Calif., was headed south on State Highway 58 in a 2016 Kenworth. At the intersection of the highway with U.S. 270, the report shows, Ahmed failed to yield at the stop sign and entered the intersection.

Lauren Falkenstein, 34, of Oklahoma City, was westbound on 270 in a 2016 Nissan Rogue and struck the semi driven by Ahmed. She was transported via air ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City where she was admitted in stable condition.

The report shows both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision, the cause of which was listed as failure to yield at a stop sign. The accident took place nine miles west of Watonga, at the intersection known locally as the ‘Y.’

OHP was assisted by the Blaine County Sheriff’s Department, Watonga EMS and Fire Department and Eagle Med.
